Accordion bag pattern test...

I have been quiet but not unproductive lately.  One of the finishes that I haven't been able to show was a pattern-testing-proofreading project for Sara at SewSweetness. Sara has just released her Accordion bag pattern - available to buy in her shop - and I was one of the lucky ones to test it for her. This is Sara's prototype:

And this is my version

Sara had initially labelled it 'beginner friendly, but with curves, tiny pleats (which drove me distracted) and sewing through about 8 layers or more when attaching the flap - well, you'd have to be a darn good beginner!
I lengthened the strap on mine a little from the original instructions - I'm a fair bit taller than Sara - but that was the only modification I made. If you want to read Sara's full write up and see a heap of other fantastic versions of this bag, you can check out her full post here.

Now I'm off to sew!

  5. When I saw your post title in my reader I thought you'd made a bag for an accordion - but this looks much more useful! I love sara's and yours but I especially like your fabrics. I agree it looks very tricky for a beginner piece :)

Yippee - you're commenting! I _love_ comments. :) I've had so much spam lately though that I'm limiting to registered users for a bit to see if that works... If you're a friend, you can find me on Facebook and comment that way if you have trouble.
